The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is an Amazing Upgrade
All-new, fully redesigned, and kicking off the 6th generation, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 continues the legacy of America's best-selling SUV. The RAV4 is now 100% electrified with a choice of HEV or PHEV powertrains. Toyota of Wallingford takes a look.
Key Details of the 2026 Toyota RAV4
Perhaps the biggest news of the all-new 6th generation RAV4 is that it's now fully electrified. You'll have a choice of hybrid EV or plug-in hybrid EV powertrains. Seven models are available in Core, Sport, or Rugged styles. The Woodland has a new look, and the first-ever GR Sport hits the road. It's also the debut of the 6th generation PHEV powertrain, and it will make up to 320 horsepower with an all-electric driving range of 50 miles.
Outdoor-Inspired Woodland Model Stands Out
The new 2026 Toyota RAV4's rugged styling is exclusive to the Woodland model, which has an outdoor and adventure aesthetic. This is now a standalone grade in the RAV4 lineup. The Rugged design features a slightly raised front end and integrated Rigid Industries LED lighting.
It also stands about half an inch higher than the regular grades due to its all-terrain tires. Raised roof rails with crossbars and a 1.25-inch rear activity mount add travel-ready versatility. The Woodland gets standard AWD and comes in either HEV or PHEV powertrains.
First-Ever RAV4 GR SPORT Makes Waves
The new RAV4 GR Sport is designed with motorsports in mind. It prioritizes driving enjoyment with sharp handling and a GR-tuned suspension. Summer tires, enhanced body rigidity, and 20-inch wheels with increased offset complete the sporty additions.
It will come exclusively in the PHEV powertrain and features a GR Functional Matrix grille. Front and rear wing-type spoilers add aggressive style. Other Sport designs include the XSE and SE grades with a choice of FWD or AWD.
A Choice of Fully Electrified Powertrains
Now fully electrified, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 comes in PHEV and HEV models. The PHEV models use a newly designed Plug-in Hybrid System that combines a high-output charger and high-capacity drive battery. The HEV system is more powerful than previous models, with up to 236 horsepower on AWD models.
The RAV4 hybrid will also be offered with FWD for the first time. The new PHEV system also gets more powerful with up to 320 horsepower and standard AWD. The PHEV XSE and Woodland grades include DC fast charging.
