If you want a car that sips fuel and asks very little of you, there's a trim here with your name on it.
- ✓Gas models come in LE, SE, and XSE trims, all with a 169-horsepower 2.0-liter engine.
- ✓Hybrid models come in LE, SE, and XLE trims, and the Hybrid LE and Hybrid SE offer all-wheel drive.
- ✓A 60th Anniversary Special Edition based on the Hybrid SE is capped at 2,500 cars in the U.S.
What this article covers
New for the Anniversary Year
The 2027 Toyota Corolla sedan keeps its winning recipe mostly intact. Toyota's big addition is the 60th Anniversary Special Edition, a hybrid built on the Hybrid SE and limited to 2,500 units for the U.S. It gets 18-inch machined, black-finished alloy wheels, special badges, anniversary door sills, and embroidered floor mats.
You can get the anniversary car in Ice Cap or Supersonic Red. That red is only sold on this edition. Toyota hasn't released its price or fuel economy yet. Reports say it should reach dealers in early 2027.
Elsewhere, a new black shade called Inked joins the color list. SE and XSE buyers can also pick a two-tone look on six paint colors.
What's Standard on Every 2027 Toyota Corolla
Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker sound system. Even the entry LE comes well stocked, with an 8-inch touchscreen running Toyota Audio Multimedia and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. That's a lot of car for the money. Plenty of shoppers could stop at the LE and feel fine about it.

Engines and Fuel Economy
Gas models use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 169 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. A continuously variable transmission sends power to the front wheels. Toyota estimates the gas LE at 32 city, 41 highway, and 35 combined mpg. On the XSE, paddle shifters let you click through 10 preset ratios. It makes a back-road run a bit more fun.
Hybrids use a 1.8-liter four-cylinder and Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid system. Together, they make 138 net horsepower. Fuel economy is where they shine. The Corolla Hybrid LE with front-wheel drive and the Hybrid XLE both carry estimates of 53 city, 46 highway, and 50 combined mpg.
Run the numbers, and the hybrid case gets strong fast. A Hybrid LE runs $1,850 above a gas LE and earns 15 extra combined mpg. Connecticut drivers should also look at the Hybrid LE and Hybrid SE, which offer Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive. With AWD, the Hybrid LE starts at $26,575 and still earns an estimated 51 city and 44 highway mpg. That's a friendly setup for snowy mornings on I-91.
How the Trims Stack Up
SE trims add some attitude. You get 18-inch graphite-finish wheels, sport seats, and Normal, Sport, and Eco drive modes. A bigger 10.5-inch screen is available, too.
At the top, the XSE and Hybrid XLE both come with the 10.5-inch screen, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a heated, 8-way power SofTex driver's seat. Both offer JBL audio as an option. The XSE adds a Qi wireless charger, a power moonroof, and those paddle shifters. For $500 more, the Hybrid XLE brings its own power moonroof and far better fuel economy.
A Quick Word on the Hatchback
Prefer a hatch? The 2027 Corolla Hatchback starts at $24,780 and comes in SE and XSE trims. This year, the SE gets a standard 7-inch digital cluster, and the XSE now comes with the 12.3-inch cluster and 10.5-inch screen. Inked and Blueprint are new colors, too.
Picking the Right Trim for Your Commute
Budget buyers should start with the gas LE. It covers the must-haves and costs the least. If you've crawled up I-91 at rush hour, you know how fast stop-and-go traffic eats gas. That's where the Hybrid LE and its 53 mpg city estimate make sense. Want heated seats and a big screen? We'd pick the Hybrid XLE over the XSE unless you love paddle shifters. And if you want something rare, move fast on the anniversary car. Only 2,500 are headed to the U.S.
