Toyota to Export Venza to More Overseas Markets

Toyota is a brand committed to global expansion. And, as it stands, the Japanese automaker builds 124,000 new Toyota models (70 percent of the production total) right here in the U.S. and exports its products to 21 markets, worldwide.

And, speaking of exportation, Toyota, being on top of market trends is set to export its flagship Toyota Venza crossover to new, thriving markets overseas, in Europe.

Specifically, after the first batch of new Venza models are created in the automaker's newly dedicated Georgetown, Kentucky manufacturing plant, in April 2013, Toyota will export 5,000 to Russia and Ukraine within the first year. The number will also only likely increase after that.

The question remains whether or not the Venza will be popular in these new markets, but if you ask those of us at Toyota of Wallingford we'd be amazed if it wasn't. After all, with the numerous trim grades, engine choice, roomy interior and more, the Venza can be customized to suit almost anyone's needs.

If you'd like to learn more about the Toyota Venza or any of the other new Toyota models we carry, please feel free to visit our conveniently located dealership and Toyota service center at 859 North Colony Rd. Wallingford, CT 06492 to speak to one of our friendly staff members.

Take your New Toyota to the Toyota USA Automobile Museum

We at Toyota of Wallingford a new Toyota and used car dealership serving the Wallingford, Bristol, Middletown and Woodbridge areas are incredibly interested in Toyota history; especially in America. That's why, when we heard that Toyota had a USA Automobile Museum located in South California we were excited to say the very least.

As are the patrons who visit the venue which is located right around the corner from Toyota's U.S. headquarters where the production of many a new Toyota model like the Camry and Highlander takes place.

Although an appointment must be made before visiting, the museum is free of charge and open to the public. Inside, the floors are adorned with a plethora of interesting Toyota models dating back all the way to the 1950s: Toyota's American inception.

The exhibit models range from production vehicles to racers and concepts which represent Toyota's U.S. timeline. One model featured is a small sedan known as the Toyopet Crown which is noted as early inspiration for modern Toyota models like the flagship Corolla. There are also models that are still available, today, like the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV which debuted in the United States in 1958 and is still a favorite for off-road and adventure enthusiasts.

New Toyota Partnership: It's Happening

On the Toyota of Wallingford blog we're committed to keeping you up to date with the latest Toyota news. And, whether this news is surrounding exciting new Toyota models or parts we enjoy sharing it with those of you in the Wallingford, Bristol, Middletown and Woodbridge areas.

And, today's news is some that involves all of the abovementioned topics; as well as a competing brand which will soon join Toyota in a partnership.

Now, this well-known automaker of Bavarian heritage, has been slated to join Toyota in a project and in fact, signed a memorandum of understanding, in that regard, back in June. And, since then, information regarding the partnership has been quite limited except for the fact that we heard it had to do with a sports car and Toyota's revolutionary EV technology.

But now, it seems as though more is on the horizon as the two automakers are making moves with their teamwork and have signed a legally binding contract outlining four joint projects all of which, sound incredibly exciting to those of us here at Toyota of Wallingford.

So, what are they?

  1. Fuel Cell Technology: Toyota and Bimmer are planning to design a brand-new fuel cell system. Both entities have been working on this type of project for quite some time on their own. However, they always seem to go off in other directions during the process. This time however, after sharing information with one another, the two companies will work together to create a joint-fuel cell platform.

  2. New Sports Car: The two automakers are planning on building a brand-new mid-size sports car by the end of this year.

  3. Lightweight Technologies: The addition of Bimmer/Toyota lightweight technologies to vehicles is very promising for the new Toyota models we'll have soon at Toyota of Wallingford.

  4. Batteries: This final project is in regard to lithium-air batteries that are sure to make our Toyota parts specialists very excited. That's because Toyota and the B are set to design a new lithium-air that will outperform all the rest.

All very intriguing, and we can't wait to see when it comes to fruition. In the meantime, we invite you to visit Toyota of Wallingford located at 859 North Colony Rd. Wallingford, CT 06492 to check out the selection of new and gently used car models we currently have available.

If you're in the market for a fun, dependable, efficient and stylish mid-size sedan, then Toyota of Wallingford serving the Wallingford, Bristol, Middletown and Woodbridge areas would like to recommend considering the 2013 Toyota Avalon. Redesigned for the 2013 year, and available in a hybrid variant, the Avalon offers drivers the utmost in luxury with its comfort, convenience and technology features.

And, though we at Toyota of Wallingford, being a Toyota dealership, highly praise all of the models in the new Toyota lineup, we're aren't the only ones who are touting the Avalon. Rather, the autophiles at the venerable publication, Kelley Blue Book, have test driven the Avalon themselves and had nothing but good things to say about the well-equipped model.

So, just what was said?

For starters, KBB editors lauded the 2013 Avalon for its high-end materials which extend even to the seats and well-tuned suspension that provide a smooth ride with minimal noise interference for all drivers and passengers.

What's more, the Toyota Avalon is very user friendly and features innovative touch sensors to replace the standard controls for adjustments such as temperature and others; and unlike other new technology, the touch sensor technology is incredibly reliable without glitches. KBB also commended the 2013 Avalon on its entertainment features including, but not limited to, a 6.1-inch touch screen with Entune connection.

Sound like a model you might be interested in? If you'd like to learn more about the Toyota Avalon, or any of the other vehicles new or used we carry here at Toyota of Wallingford, feel free to visit our convenient location at 859 North Colony Rd. Wallingford, CT 06492, any time.

12 New Toyota Models Chosen as IIHS Top Safety Picks

No matter how you slice it, safety should be, and often is, the number one concern drivers consider when they're in the market for a new auto. And, while it's true a vehicle is only as safe as the person who's driving it, there are certain mechanisms that automakers can put into place to help make the vehicles they offer as safe as possible.

Enter our favorite brand, Toyota. In case you didn't know, a great deal of new Toyota models are considered to be Top Safety Picks as determined by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). In fact, 12 models have recently landed on the list for the 2013 year ? 12, that's quite an accomplishment.

The vehicles recognized performed well in seven out of 12 categories the IIHS provided. Out of all the large-scale manufacturers on the list, Toyota placed the most vehicles.

Curious to know which vehicles earned the designation? Here they are, in no particular order:

  • the Toyota Yaris
  • the Toyota Corolla
  • the Toyota Prius
  • the Toyota Prius c
  • the Toyota Prius v
  • the Toyota Camry
  • the Toyota Avalon
  • the Toyota 4Runner
  • the Toyota Highlander

Toyota Considers Hybrid Variant for RAV4 Lineup

Quite recently, the brand-new, redesigned 2014 Toyota RAV4 was introduced to eager auto fans at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new model featured exciting revamps and since its debut has attracted many a fan praising the auto for its innovation and modern style. But, it also left a few wondering what Toyota has in store next for the RAV4 in terms of variants.

One very intriguing speculation has piqued our interest, and that's that Toyota may be planning to create a hybrid version of its flagship CUV.

And, honestly, this makes perfect sense to us considering the sheer number of people we have coming into Toyota of Wallingford and asking about Toyota hybrids like the Prius and Camry Hybrid. It also makes sense, because a hybrid RAV4 would truly be the best of both worlds: the utility of an SUV and the efficiency of a hybrid all in one sleek, reliable, perfect package.

So, will the new model come to fruition? It remains to be seen. Toyota experts have expressed the need to evaluate market trends and the concurrent necessity for such an auto before sending it to the production lines. As Yoshikazu Saeki, Deputy Chief Engineer at Toyota explains, "We are watching the market ... after introducing the new RAV4 we will see. There will be a possibility of introducing a hybrid RAV4 and we will respond to what the market wants."1

One thing is for sure however, we at Toyota of Wallingford are excited at the prospect.

How about you?

Toyota Technical Center Gives Back to Deserving Community

If you stay up to date with the latest Toyota news like that found on the Toyota of Wallingford blog, you likely know how much Toyota gives back to the community. For instance, there is the "Hiring our Heroes" initiative, where the automaker has paired with a medal of honor recipient to assist veterans who are home from war with finding a job.

And now, with the Toyota Technical Center celebrating its 35th year of operation in the U.S., Toyota is giving back even more.

Specifically, the generous automaker has donated a total of $35,000 to nine different non-profit organizations and an additional $12,500 to six fire departments who serve the region in which the Technical Center is located.

The selected non-profit group include: 186th Street School, The Hope Clinic, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 826 Michigan, Ele's Place, the Lymphoma Research Foundation, Growing Hope and Packages from Home

"This is our 4th year partnering with Toyota to send packages to our Troops," says Judy Hayes of Packages from Home. "It has been a great experience!"1

And while it's not terribly typical for R&D groups to donate such substantial amounts to charities, the Toyota Technical Center is anything but typical. In fact, its employees are encouraged to volunteer leading to an astounding 553 volunteers who have lent their time to over 40 community service activities.

If you're interested in seeing the fruits of the technical center's labor, Toyota of Wallingford located at 859 North Colony Rd. Wallingford, CT 06492 invites you to our Toyota dealership to check out our currently available new Toyota and gently used car models.

Clint Bowyer Customizes Toyota Prius for SEMA Show

The Prius in and of itself is a tremendously innovative auto. But, for the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the Prius will be even more revolutionary.

As auto enthusiasts likely know, the annual SEMA show is a chance for automakers to present their latest vehicle creations with aftermarket flair. And for this year's, Toyota has hired on famous NASCAR and NHRA drivers to customize a few select new Toyota models including the Camry, Tundra and aforementioned Prius for the Toyota Dream Build Challenge.

For the "Tekked-Out Prius," Toyota has employed Clint Bowyer and RKM Performance company to give it some exceptional technological flair. Toyota Plans to Add to Hybrid Lineup In Near Future

It likely comes as no surprise that Toyota is known for its stellar hybrid lineup. After all, the Japanese automaker is the genius behind the Toyota Prius and all of its variants. And now, Toyota of Wallingford is pleased to announce that Toyota has intentions to expand its hybrid lineup even more over the next three years.

How much more?

Well, quite a bit, as Toyota is promising the addition of 21 new hybrid models to its new Toyota lineup over the course of three years. If you do the math, this equals out to seven models per year.

And new hybrids aren't all Toyota has up its sleeve to boost its green initiative, as the innovative automaker is planning to introduce one new all-electric fuel-cell vehicle, as well.

In terms of specific details surrounding Toyota's new green vehicles, they are limited at this time. We do know that the iQ EV, from Toyota's counterpart, Scion is slated to arrive around December, and the all-new Toyota RAV4 EV has officially arrived at U.S. dealerships as of September, and is boasting some pretty impressive specs.

However, in the grand scheme of things, three years is really not far away, and we're sure to receive consistent updates along the way. And as a dedicated enthusiast, Toyota of Wallingford promises to post any news we catch wind of right here on our blog, to which we encourage you to subscribe. And in the meantime, if you're in the market for a new or gently used car model, we invite you to visit us at 859 North Colony Rd. Wallingford, CT 06492 where we carry a wide variety of both.
