2011 Toyota Sienna, A Family Redesign

2011 will introduce an all new Toyota Sienna, the popular minivan that has families traveling to the grocery story or cross country all across...well, the country.

Available soon at Toyota of Wallingford, Toyota's Sienna has received an updated front end and overall body design.

The grill to Sienna holds more chrome and a larger grin than previous models. Both head and LED taillights are redesigned, and is available with standard alloy wheels.

The body extends a bit longer then last year's minivan, and overall shows off a more aerodynamic look. Toyota Sienna could be the first of the sportier yet fuel efficient models Toyota hopes to show off down the line.

Inside, Sienna contains a completely revamped dash and futuristic instrument panel, also looking a little sports car-esque. Both from seats are extremely comfortable, especially for a non-luxury model. Rear seating can automatically slide back and forward a full 2 feet.

Under 2011 Sienna's hood is a 3.5L V-6 engine with 266-horsepower, 245-pound-feet unit, which boasts quiet yet powerful acceleration. Sienna has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs. This model also holds a high fuel economy rating for cars of this genre - with an estimated 18 MPG city, 24 highway.

MSRP for the 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan beings at $24,260 for the base 4-cylinder model, $38,500 for the basic V6, and can top out at $48,000 with the fully-loaded AWD model.

So check out the all new Sienna, along with all the other new and used Toyota models at Toyota of Wallingford - 859 North Colony Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
Kelley Blue Book, the prestigious car pricing and rating system used by dealerships, shoppers and even mechanics throughout the nation, has announced their choices for 2010 Top Green Cars.

Making it to that list twice is Toyota - with the Prius and Highlander Hybrids at numbers 1 and 9 respectively.

Kelley Blue Book's (also known as KBB) chose their 2010 Top 10 Green Cars not only based on he vehicle's fuel efficiency. KBB included a variety of vehicles, including sedans, trucks and even an SUV.

According to KBB, "To be considered for the green Top 10, each vehicle was required to offer fuel economy and CO2 emissions superior to the bulk of vehicles in its class and at the same time provide all the safety, creature comforts and driving enjoyment that would make it pleasant to own."

Tops on the list is Toyota's Prius - which rates a combined 50 miles per gallon. Prius has made it on a variety of Green car lists before, not only for its efficiency but also the technology behind its dash and under the hood.

Down at number 9 on the list is the highly successful Toyota Highlander Hybrid, which gets 22 miles per gallon. Highlander was given kudos for its combine MPG along with passenger and towing capacity.

There was some controversy with this Kelley Blue Book list ranking a vehicle with only 22 miles per gallon as "Green" - but Highlander Hybrid makes up for the lower MPG with its Hybrid technology and again, room for all.

Be sure to check out both of the Kelley Blue Book Top Green Cars for 2010, Prius and Highlander Hybrid, at Toyota of Wallingford - 859 North Colony Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
The Connecticut Sales and Use Tax Exemptions for purchase or lease of fuel efficient passenger motor vehicles is set to end on June 30, 2010. This incentive has made the already popular and highly rated Prius Hybrid an even better deal. Connecticut residents have been able to save in some cases $2000 or more on sales tax when purchasing a new or even a pre-owned Prius. With Connecticut's current budget deficit the reward for purchasing a fuel efficient vehicle such as the Prius is not likely to continue.

In order to qualify for the exemption you have to purchase a vehicle that obtains over 40 mpg combined gas mileage (city and highway combined) The Prius achieves an impressive 50 MPG combined. The average gas price in Connecticut according to gasbuddy.com as of 5/25/2010 is $2.965 for regular. The average price will more than likely be over $3.00 per gallon after memorial day weekend
.

Toyota Domestic Sales Up 50%

Despite millions of recalls globally due to some media-hyped widespread panic, Toyota still came out on top of the sales charts. In Japan alone, Toyota sales were up 50% during the month of April.

Toyota dealerships in the United States like Toyota of Wallingford, located at 859 North Colony Rd., ran 0% financing specials, along with dozens of other dealer and company approved incentives to bring customers onto lots.

That plan seems to have paid off - along with decades of car buyers trusting the reliability and durability of Toyota vehicles.

The Japanese auto maker sold 113,644 vehicles in the month, compared with 75,777 units a year ago as the industry grappled with the effects of the global economic downturn, according to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

If that number isn't impressive enough, Toyota's Japan figures do not include sales of subsidiaries like Hino and Daihatsu Motors.

"The data offered further evidence that Toyota's recall incident caused little impact at home," said Ryoichi Saito, senior auto analyst at Mizuho Investors Securities.

"Because of Toyota's vast hybrid lineup, the company is probably among the biggest beneficiaries of the government's programs," analyst Saito said.
Another explanation for Toyota's rise in sales back home was how they significantly benefited from government stimulus programs, included tax incentives for Japanese motorists to buy new cars. This was comparable to the Cash for Clunkers program here in the States, as well as tax breaks hybrid car buyers receive.

Aside from Japan, Toyota vehicle continue to ride the roads of America with as much confidence as ever - so be sure to check out all the new Highlander's, Corolla's and Avalon's available at Toyota of Wallingford.

Toyota 2025 LeMans Race Car Concept

We may not be able to predict what the future might bring to us, but for Toyota there is a pretty good idea what some cars will look like.

During the Los Angeles International Auto Show, designers for Calty Design Research Inc. constructed a Toyota LeMans race car for the year 2025.

In the year 2025 - Toyota envisions a racer that never needs to stop for fuel. It is their Toyota LeMans Racer for the Design Los Angeles competition, featuring the theme Motor Sports Vehicles 2025.

Calty Design Research Inc. out of California, who work directly with the Japanese auto maker, have come up with an adaptable race car concept for 2025. It's powered by a hydrogen fuel cell and can be charged with photo voltaic body panels that can feed energy in from the side lines. LeMans racers never actually needs to stop.

In High Speed Mode, the body and wheels of Toyota's LeMans narrow, which reduces drag and resistance to reach an top speed of 350 miles per hour. A cornering Mode stabilizes the vehicle by widening the body and expanding the wheels establishing top grip through tight turns.

The driver's compartment is completely digital, enhanced by virtual reality projection and an on-board computer, which acts as an automated co-pilot system.

This AI (artificial intelligence) can recommend trajectory and collision avoidance.

We may have to wait another 15 years to see this Toyota LeMans racer, but all the 2010 and 2011 models, including Highlander, Rav-4 and Corolla, are currently available at Toyota of Wallingford.
